I Made Kale Chips!

Today is the first day of my summer vacation, and to celebrate I decided to do something fun.  So I got up early and made kale chips!  What?  Not exactly what you would call a really fun first day of vacation activity?  Okay, fine.  The truth is, I had a big bunch of kale sitting in my fridge from my last produce box.  Included with the kale was a simple recipe for kale chips, which was a good thing, because I surely haven't the foggiest idea of what to do with kale.

All the recipe calls for is kale, washed and cut into pieces, olive oil, and sea salt.  Easy peasy.  Why not turn this into one of those blogger posts that shows the author demonstrating the whole process, step by step, with a beautiful plate of something delicious at the end?

I baked them in the oven for 40 minutes on 275.  Eyeing them skeptically as they baked, I was sure that I would like them because I love vegetables and I love chips and olive oil and salt.

Voila!

And now, for a taste of these little chips of health and goodness:

Heh, I love taking pictures of my self eating kale.

Uh...I'm not sure I'm going to like this...

*Guttural sounds*

The End

PS-This was almost as good as when I made beet chips but forgot that eating large amounts of beets turn your poop red and when I told my buddies on my walking team what happened they all pretended like they had no idea what I was talking about.

Thank you for trying Kale chips so I don't have to!

I'm having trouble with this entire concept. You didn't know that Kale is not intended for human consumption?

Actually, neither are beets.

The one time I tried those I projectile vomited. So I didn't have them on board long enough to change anything.

Wait, so you didn't like them? Hmmm...all the famous chefs are talking about how much they LOVE kale and those chips. Hurumph! I made squash chips this past week and they were good...they take forever, but good.

I've been wanting to try Kale but I can't find any around here. Maybe it's a good thing!

We made some a few weeks back and I agree... gross! Using the word "chip" was pretty misleading... I wanted them to taste something like chips!

I love beets, but yeah, the side effects can be frightening. I'm not brave enough for kale yet.

That last face is a keeper!! Kale chips?? Really?? You had to go through all that trouble to find out they weren't good? You could have called me first. :)
Glad to see you are back.
Enjoy your vacation!

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww. Nothing about them sounds good to me. Well, except the salt maybe : )
That face is the best! The absolute best. Happy Summer vacation to you. I hope it is fantastic!

You just started your summer break? I've been on summer break since mid-May. Though I do go back mid August, makes me wonder, when you start back?

I've made kale chips twice. The first time I thought they tasted like grass. The second time I wondered why in the heck I felt the need to try them again. Chips isn't the right word for them at all. They are like dried tissue paper. And the house smelled bad after they cooked. Yuck!

Oh, man. Now I guess I don't have to try them. I've been wanting too . . . but after that last photo . . . I think I'm going to pass.

p.s. Stop blogging on the weekend just to avoid me. You know I'm not going anywhere.

I made and tried them a while back. Ick. I made a similar face!

Well, now I know...they aren't for me!

Not a fan of kale. However, I LOVE beets. Also, eating too much red velvet cake can do the same thing to your poop. Seriously. I thought maybe I was dying or something.

Jason, I haven't been to your blog in ages...and I miss you soooo.

This pictoral display made me laugh out loud.

There is really no good reason for kale to be on this planet. I would imagine that even rabbits wouldn't like it.
