Beeks Bappo Roo

While I am very proud that our son, Diego, is being raised fluent in two languages, I must say that it does come with its challenges. There have been times that he has said something to me that I just can't understand in any language, until I realize that he is saying it in English with the very heavy Spanish accent that he hears from Elsa and Ines. My favorite one was when he came up to me and said, "Daddy, I need some beeks bappo roo!"
"Huh?" I asked.
"I need some beeks bappo roo!" he repeated.
"Diego, I still don't understand what you're saying."
Diego was beginning to get frustrated.
"Will you show me what you want? Where is it?" I questioned.
Diego led me upstairs to a shelf in his closet and pointed.

This is Beeks Bappo Roo:

Beeks Bappo Roo, the Mexican cure all!
.
This episode originally aired in May, 2007.

Duh. Of course that's what he meant. I knew that right away. Please let him keep the accent.

There are times I barely understand the English my kid is speaking, so I'd be lost on your house!

Any son of yours is a son of mine and Kate's. And Adam Lambert's. And Tom's. And Juan's. And Giancarlo's.

My little neighbor boy was driving me crazy once with his insistence that their was a "big fire" in the backyard. No, there was not, but he was right about the enormous tarantula!

But, do they wrap him up in sweats and blankets, rub Beeks on his chest and let him sweat it out? Cause that's what someone in my house does!

Jen... LMAOO!!! One time my mom's (then) bf's little boy said he "swallowed a Lego." Everyone was frantic and asking him all kinds of questions even took him to the bathroom to throw it up. Then we figured out he "ate a bagel". :/

How cute about the accent. I can't get by without Vicks Vaporub. My Mum has always been a believer that you rub Vicks your chest AND on the soles of your feet when you have cold/flu symptoms...oh, and also wear socks to bed.

That is adorable! Kids are a riot. What a wonderful gift to your son to raise him bilingual.

From that moment on, did the entire family begin to refer to it as "Beeks"?

The get soooo frustrated when you just don't get it.

Hilarious! My son used to ask for his "bah-dooo" which was his bottle. It contained "mee-ook" or milk.

When I was in Mexico, the woman I was staying with was sharing recipes with me. I was keeping up until she got to "norsuis." I could not for the life of me figure out what "norsuis" was. She finally went into the kitchen and got the jar of bouillon cubes - Knorr Swiss.

This reminds me of my friend that asked me to bring her some Roobeetoosin, (complete with rolled r at the beginning) which as anyone can see means Robitussin... Right?

I will now formally introduce "beeks" into our family lexicon. (We're bilingual like that.)

Oh, GAWD I am laughing so hard that everyone in the room is staring at me like I'm insane. Which I can be sometimes, but that's besides the point. Good one.
