Stream of Consciousness Blogging: Super Mario Bros and Financial Aid

It has been a while since I just sat down and unloaded my brain on this here Jason Show.  So often I feel that each and every post should have a theme, but sometimes it feels good to just let your fingers do the walkin and your stream of conciousness do the talkin!  Although I will say that when other people do this sort of post it is much harder to follow and make any sense of them!

Tonight Amelia and I are attending a financial aid workshop for her upcoming freshman year in college!  She has applied to several California universities and we are waiting to hear back from most of them; one in San Francisco already accepted her--can you imagine Amelia in San Francisco?  She'd be in heaven.  However, our top choice is Cal Poly San Luis Obispo because of the quality of the school and the fact that they offer a political science/pre-law major.  I also like the fact that it is only three hours away by car, as opposed to several of the other places we were considering.  So I'll let you know!

A word about Super Mario Bros on the Wii.  For my birthday I got a pair of shoes and a belt.  Both of which I promptly returned to Target and bought Super Mario Bros instead.  Amelia finds that amusing.  Diego and I both love to play it and we get to spend some great quality daddy/son time as well.  My thumbs are calloused and sore.  Is that bad?

Manicotti.  Stuffed with cheese, brocolli, and spinach.  It's what's for dinner and I made it myself from scratch.

My kids are after me to get Super Mario--and they are old enough to turn their noses up at the Wii.

Mmmmmm.... man-i-cott-i....

I hope Amelia gets into the college closer to home. I have a senior this year, too. Can you send out some vibes for him to stay closer to home? He wanted to apply to Berkley. I told him to stick with the east coast.

Is Amelia excited about starting college?

And hey, if someone gave me shoes and a belt for my b-day I'd return it too!

Are you mad at me? you never stop by my place anymore.

Justine :o )

Ahhh...Financial aid and the college acceptance letter dance. Does that bring back memories (for both my BA and my MS!). : )

My daughter loves Super Mario for the Wii! I can't play it without getting dizzy.

My son has no plans for college so we haven't been to any of those infomational workshops yet, but will when it's my daughter's turn! I'd be interested in hearing about it.

That dinner sounds delish!

Congrats to Amelia; with 2 in college, I know what an exciting and stressful time this can be.
Super Mario Bros can help ease the stress, for sure...

Fun and exciting interviewing colleges and all that goes with the process!
I have never ever made manicotti. It sounds difficult to me.

Um...can you box up some of that manicotti and ship it to ChiTown? Sounds delish!!!

I'm still resisting the temptation to buy Mario for my Wii. I'm afraid that if we got it, I'd NEVER get up off my ass!

We went to a Super Mario birthday party last weekend and the goody bags had red hats, white gloves, and fake mustaches.

Good luck with the college thing! My daughter is now scoping out graduate schools...time flies!!

My daughter graduated from Cal Poly Pomona a couple years ago - what I liked about it was the very individualized attention in her program (hospitality management) and the fact that they get to start taking classes related to their major immediately as freshman.

I love that game so much.
One of our neighbor kids stole it I think. I would like to go over and break their doors down to get it back but I don't want to seem like a psycho.

I hope she is only 3 hours away too.
