Intelligent Meme

Hulagirl tagged me to participate in this, ahem, Intelligent Meme. Of course, I am powerless to resist, as my favorite thing to do online before I began blogging was to fill out, pass around, and yes, even create internet quizzes. But this one looks like this one will require more than just answers on the fly!

Here's how the Intelligent MeMe works:

1) Link to the person who tagged you and notify him/her that your MeMe post is up and running.
2) Once you create your Multiple Intelligent MeMe, tag any number of people who won't reach through your computer screen and choke you because you tagged them.
4) Alert them to the fact they have been tagged by any means possible.
5) Threaten them with Mitt Romney political ads and more tags if they don't post the Intelligent MeMe within one week.
5) Post the rules.
.
RULES:

A. List the 8 Multiple Intelligences:

1. Visual-Spatial
2. Verbal-Linguistic
3. Musical-Rhythmical
4. Bodily-Kinesthetic
5. Interpersonal
6. Intrapersonal
7. Naturalistic
8. Logical-Mathematical
.
B. Post "something" that corresponds with each of the above. "Something" can be a quote, a picture, a drawing, a story, a song, a book, an anecdote... whatever corresponds with each intelligence. Here are the examples Swampy used:

1. Visual-Spatial: "The only real world is the world seen by children."
2. Verbal-Linguistic: "Words are a wonderful form of communication, but they will never replace kisses and punches."
3. Musical-Rhythmical: "I march to a different drummer whose location, identity, and musical training have yet to be established."
4. Bodily-Kinesthetic: I knew something was wrong the minute you bit my nose.
5. Interpersonal: "There's no room in this argument for both of us, unless you move over just a little."
6. Intrapersonal: "Would you rather be in my mood or have me come into yours?"
7. Naturalist: "At what point in my war with the tumbleweeds will the tumbleweeds finally give up."
8. Logical-Mathematical: "If I die before doing everything on my list, to whom should I leave my list?"

And being a highly visual person myself, I decided to go with an emphasis on pictures/photography. I went to corbis.com and did a search for each category, choosing a picture from the first page of each search that I found interesting in relation to that intelligence. Here's what I came up with:
.
1. Visual-Spatial
2-Musical-Rhythmical
3. Verbal-Linguistic
4. Bodily-Kinesthetic
5. Interpersonal
6. Interpersonal
7. Naturist
8. Logical-Mathematical

Play if you would like, I'd love to see what you came up with! Thanks, Hulagirl!

Bloggerish Meme

My friend, Ami, tagged me with this meme with bloggerish twist.

How long have you been blogging?
I started in April of 2007, after much persuasion from Katrine, Kira, and Laura. Not quite a year yet but I just posted my 200th post! Is that good?

What inspired you to start your blog, and who are your mentors?
I started because I was beginning to feel like I could participate so much more in the fun that my sister and sisters in law were having. I also thought it would be fun to have some sort of a creative outlet, especially one that had to do with writing, which is something I've always wanted to do.

My blog mentors started out, again as Katrine, Kira, and Laura, but then my admiration expanded at first to, of course, The Pioneer Woman, and then to my ultimate, the Queen of All Bloging, Bossy. I also find Puntabulous inspiring in such a gay kind of way. From there I found some new friends who inspire me all the time like Hulagirl, janjanmom, and Ami. I convinced J-Lo to jump on board and, of course, she inspires me constantly, as she is my muse.

Are you trying to make money online, or are you doing it just for fun?
Ohhhh, this is soooo just for fun. But it would be nice to make some extra money, right? Well, maybe some day. For now I'm happy to have a hobby that is free that I can do in the comfort of my jammies and a chaise. That's payment enough!

What 3 things do you love about being online?
1- I love having the world at my fingertips!!!
2-But more than that, it truly is a social outlet that I never would have imagined. Along with that is the fact that when amongst people I don't know too well, I tend to be pretty shy. I don't feel that same shyness online.
3-It has become a guilty pleasure. I use the internet for the same reason I read---escapism.

Chat and IM.
Neither, not anymore. I have come to find IMing annoying, an interruption, like the blasted phone ringing in the middle of my favorite show or something. And chat. . . well, I've never felt the need. If I want to chat, I can just pick up the phone, right? But I spend the whole day talking, so I usually don't want to chat when I get home. (Not so helpful in my relationship.)

I tag Katrine, Kira, Laura, J-Lo, Claire, Hulagirl, Kenna, and Janjan. Anyone else wanna play? Please do, then let me know and I'll link you here.

The Grocery Game

As soon as my sister, Katrine, sees this post she is going to let out the biggest guffaw that ever came from a Texan housewife. A few months back, she posted a picture of the groceries that she had just purchased, all arranged on the island in her kitchen. She was very proud of the substantial amount of money she had saved on those groceries. I scoffed, and yes, I even made fun of her. Actually, these were my exact words: "Ummm, Katrine? I think you’re seriously sick. Who lines up their groceries like that to take a picture of them? You say you’re a very busy mother…but I’d say you have too much time on your hands!"

Well, look who's eating crow:

Katrine's been playing The Grocery Game for quite some time now, and she has gotten very good at it. While I was in Texas a couple of weeks ago, I admired her coupon binder and her amply stocked pantry, and I felt that old familiar coupon itch that I scratched so often and well back before Diego was born. Now that he's almost four I actually feel I might have the time, energy, and wherewithal to gird up my loins and join the army of coupon kings and queens that save big on groceries every week. Only this time, I'm doing it right. I'm playing The Grocery Game.

You can play The Game for a four week $1.00 trial. After that there is a bi-monthly $15.00 fee. But if you play the game correctly, you will far surpass that amount in savings.

Observe:

Grand total: $220.91
Total after Ralph's club card and double coupons: $88.79
Total savings
playing The Grocery Game: $132.12

Basically, the way The Grocery Game website matches up grocery store sale items to coupons that come out in the Sunday paper. So, you not only get something on sale or with a coupon, you get both. This often means that you get items for free, or extremely cheap, twenty five or fifty cents.

Oh my gosh, it's so fun I can hardly stand it.!

The Grocery Game. Would you like to play?

My Type

Soon after "coming out of the closet," my new gay friends asked me this question more than any other: "So, what's your type?"

The first few times I was asked this I really didn't have much of an idea of what they meant or what to say. I had just recently made the conscious conclusion that I was definitely attracted to guys, now I had to narrow it down further? You mean not just any old guy would do? No, I guess not. . . okay, so what exactly was my type?
It didn't take me long to figure this one out. To clarify, let me share with you some examples of guys that I would consider my type (in a fantasy world) and some that I would not.

My type: Ricky Martin
Not my type: Martin Short

My type: Enrique Iglesias

My Band's New Album Cover

This is fun! Completely random and meaningless, but fun nonetheless. I found it on Avitable, and he copied it from someone else.

(Warning, don't browse through Avitable too much if you're easily offended!)

But this is fun, and rated G.

Let’s make a band:

The first article title is the name of your band.

Click on New Random Quotations at the bottom of the page. Then, the last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.

The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

Now take your pic, add the band name and title to it, then post it.

Hey! We’re all rockstars now!

Here's mine:

If you try it yourself, share the results in the comments section. Better yet, post it on your own blog if you want, and then we'll all see it!

All My Exes Live in Texas

During our trip to the Nevada desert, we walked through a casino that had a live country-western band playing the song, "All My Exes Live in Texas." Diego picked right up on the catchy tune with the corny yet typical country lyrics. Of course, since this song has always been one of my favorite country songs to mock (right up there with "I Gotta BBQ Stain on My White T-shirt" and "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy"), I chimed right in and Diego and I sang the main line to that song over and over, until it was quite cemented in our three year old's head.

As fate would have it, the very next weekend, Diego and I took a trip to Texas! As soon as Katrine picked us up from the airport, Diego quipped in his best Texas accent,

"Awl Mah Exes Live in Texuss!"

I only had to coach him on that a couple of times while on the plane.

For the rest of the trip, whenever Diego saw an X he'd point it out to me, saying, "Look, Daddy, here's one of my exes, and it lives in Texas!"

Then I started watching for exes, too.

All my ex's live in Texas
and Texas is the place I'd dearly love to be
but all my ex's live in Texas
and that's why I hang my hat in Tennessee!

Rosanna's down in Texarkana
wanted me to push her broom
Sweet Eileen's in Abilene
She forgot I hung the moon
and Allison's in Galveston
somehow lost her sanity
and Dimple's who now lives in Temple's
got the law looking for me!

I remember that old Frio River
where I learned to swim
but it brings to mind another time
where I wore my welcome thin
By transcendental meditation
I go there each night
but I always come back to myself
long before daylight

All my ex's live in Texas
and Texas is the place Id dearly love to be
but all my ex's live in Texas
therefore I reside in Tennessee!

Some folks think I'm hidin'
It's been rumored that I died
but I'm alive and well in Tennessee!

My Perfect Body

The Jason Show Hits Texas

Diego and I took a trip to Texas to visit my sister and one of the key characters of The Jason Show, Katrine, and her wonderful family.

Katrine and baby Devin

Ethan and Diego at a very fun park

Ethan, quite possibly the nicest kindergartner in America, and me
(photo taken by budding photographer, Diego)

Cameron, boy wonder

The cousins having a blast on the trampoline

This is Zoe. How can someone who looks like this be so amazingly sweet and loving?

Madison, ready for her first formal dance. And no, it wasn't a date dance!

More fun with the cousins ("Daddy! I'm in a rocket and I'm about to take off!")

This little guy, Devin, just turned one. So, so cute. And big trouble does come in small packages.

Cameron, Devin, and my sister-in-law, Heidi, chiropractor in the making. It was so good spending some time with her and learning about the inner-workings of her amazing mind.

During our trip we had to ride on four different airplanes. Diego was such a good boy! To pass the time, one of the things I let him do was take pictures. The one below is the only one that didn't have fingers in it!

We had such a great time!
