Mount Timpanogos

I grew up at the base of this mountain. I used to take its beauty for granted, but the last few times I've been in Utah, I have had to stop and stare.

When I leave for a long time, I always love to come back and see the mountains because I realize just how much I love them.

It is strange how easily we take things for granted, like that story where the New Yorker goes to see the Grand Canyon, and stops to talk with a local. After introducing them selves, they are both shocked at each other upon finding out the New Yorker had never seen the Statue of Liberty and the Arizona man had never seen the Grand Canyon.

I am a total Utah embarassment: I have never hiked Timp (or made the illustrious "Y Hike"), I have never been to Moab, or Zions, and I have never been to Lake Powell or been skiing. I would rather vacation in Cali, in a hotel, and go to Disneyland. I'm horrible.

I had this same experience when I lived in Las Vegas for a few years. When I came up to visit, I took tons of pictures of the panorama around where I used to live.

As a matter of fact, the screen saver on my laptop is pictures of different Utah scenery. It's awesome.
